An Illawarra tradie has admitted dealing coke and other party drugs using the cash he made to fund a luxury car.

Burly brickie Brent Rabbitte faced Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday, where he admitted to dealing cocaine and MDMA, after he was arrested in a major undercover police sting last year.

During investigations by Strike Force Kneipp, Rabbitte was caught dealing thousands of dollars worth of party drugs from Wollongong and Lake Illawarra addresses.

On one occasion in November 2019, police surveillance captured him supplying two plastic bags filled with a white powder for $6000.

These bags were seized by police, who determined the white powder to be cocaine, with one of the bags containing 27.81 grams and the other weighing 1.46g.

In documents tendered to the court on Wednesday, it was revealed Rabbitte hid another coke sale inside a packet of two minute noodles. On April 18, 2020, police watched on as Rabbitte supplied the noodle snack containing 54.1 grams of the drug for a price of $12,000.

During the investigation, court documents reveal Rabbitte was at no time during the investigation observed to be employed or participating in any “legal work”.

“His bank statements do not show this receipt of any government benefits nor any payment from an employer,” a set of agreed facts read.

Between 29 and 31 March 2020, Rabbitte admitted he used $28,550 which were the proceeds of crime, as a deposit to buy a 203 Mercedes e63 AMG sedan.

The investigation came to a crescendo on August 12 last year, when police raided Rabbitte’s Gipps Street unit block in Wollongong, where they found him sitting in his brand new Mercedes.

Upon seeing police, he tried to close his garage door, but, as cops tried to stop him, he threw his phone down a deep stormwater drain.

He was arrested on the spot while his apartment was searched. According to court documents, police uncovered $2000 cash, more than 17 grams of cocaine and air rifle ammunition.

Rabbitte on Wednesday pleaded guilty to drug supply charges, as well as knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime.

He will return to court next month for sentencing.
