An alleged Illawarra drug family is set to be reunited after son, Daniel Bojlevski, secured bail in the Supreme Court. However, his temporary freedom has come at a massive cost.

The son at the heart of an alleged Illawarra drug empire has a $1m surety over his head after being released on bail following 462 days behind bars on remand.

Daniel Bojlevski, 29, applied for bail in the NSW Supreme Court on Friday with Justice Sarah McNaughton hearing it could be up to a year until he faces a likely trial for a raft of drug charges.

The Primbee man was arrested at his home, where he lives with his father, Robert Bojlevski and mother Jennette Marsh, in September, 2021, with police allegedly seizing $275,000 cash they claim to be the proceeds of crime.

The seven-figure bond – split across two acceptable persons – comes six months after his father and alleged partner in crime, Robert Bojlevski, secured his release from custody with a $500,000 surety.

Robert Bojlevski, 51, is charged with two counts of knowingly or recklessly directing a criminal group, three counts of supplying cannabis, seven counts of supplying prohibited drugs and knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime.

Marsh is on bail for a related matter after being charged with supplying $21,000 worth of cannabis and knowingly dealing with property suspected to be the proceeds of crime.

Daniel Bojlevski is charged with two counts of knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crimes with the intent to cancel, two counts of supplying an indictable quantity of cannabis, supplying a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug, supplying a small quantity of a prohibited drug and supplying a prohibited drug on an ongoing basis.

All matters will resume in Wollongong Local Court in 2023.

In court on Friday, the Crown submitted it had “a strong case” based on telephone intercepts and the items found during a search of the Lakeview Pde address.

Justice McNaughton said it was her “assessment” Daniel Bojlevski would be convicted in the event of a trial, but acknowledged it could ”likely take up to two years before the matter goes before a jury”.

Daniel Bojlevski grinned and nodded as Justice McNaughton granted “very strict bail” with more than two dozen conditions including reporting daily to Lake Illawarra Command, residing at his family’s Primbee home, abiding by a 8pm to 6am curfew, not carrying more than $2000 cash, not possessing a security box and not to go within 500m of an international port of departure.

Daniel Bojlevski was ordered to appear in Wollongong Local Court in January, 2023, with his parents‘ matters to return to court in the new year.
