Adam Goodacre allegedly broke into Dapto house, stabbed man

A man was allegedly attacked with a knife after his home was broken into in the morning’s early hours. The man police say was responsible was sentenced just weeks earlier for an unrelated crime.

A Dapto man is behind bars on remand after an alleged knife-wielding break and enter only weeks after being convicted of a violent affray.

Adam Goodacre was arrested on Monday and charged with a litany of offences including an aggravated break and enter and commit indictable offence – namely wounding.

The five other charges include damaging property, larceny, armed with the intent to commit an indictable offence, custody of a knife and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The court heard the 38-year-old allegedly broke into an abode on Burringbar St, Dapto, between 6am and 6.30am on Monday.

During the alleged break in, police allege Goodacre wounded the male occupant of the address with a knife.

The court heard the break in was the last offence of Goodacre’s alleged pre-dawn criminal activity on Monday.

The court heard Goodacre allegedly damaged a white Mitsubishi Triton on Amaral Ave, Dapto about 4.30am, before allegedly stealing a GME UHF radio from the ute.

It is alleged Goodacre then attacked the owner of the ute with a knife and inflicted actual bodily harm.

The court heard Goodacre was three weeks into a lengthy community correction order, which included a condition he undertake a drug rehabilitation program, when it is alleged the fresh offending took place.

Goodacre was also convicted and fined $200 for behaving in an offensive manner in public when he was sentenced last month.

The Dapto man appeared in Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday where he was denied bail by Magistrate Mark Douglass given his recent history and the likely nature of the fresh charges.

Goodacre will next face court in August.
