More than 1800 cannabis plants have been destroyed after police raided an industrial-scale hydro house, allegedly finding more than $3.75 million worth of cannabis south west of Sydney.
Two men, 37-year-old Thanh Phe Phan and 53-year-old Van Tiu Phan, were arrested at the property and charged with large commercial cannabis cultivation.
Police video showed the moment a squad of strike force detectives swooped on the rural property on Marulan Street in Wingello in the Southern Highlands about 10am on Tuesday.
It will be alleged both men were found at the property upon police arrival, after a major investigation into cannabis cultivation in the Southern Highlands.
Police will allege they raided three large greenhouses, where they found more than 1800 mature cannabis plants with an estimated street value of $3.75 million.
A drying room allegedly purpose-built for readying the marijuana for distribution was also uncovered, police said.
The plants were seized and tested them before being burnt on site with the help of the NSW Rural Fire Service.
Both Van and Thanh’s cases were briefly mentioned at Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday, however neither chose to apply for bail.
The pair will remain in custody until they next appear before Goulburn Local Court on July 8.
