A hotel which occupies the largest single pub site in Byron Bay has revealed plans for renovations including an outdoor pizza kitchen.
The North Byron Hotel has lodged a development application to Byron Shire Council, hoping to make some alterations and additions to the existing hotel and bottle shop.
Planning documents highlight plans to add a beer garden bar, outdoor pizza kitchen and new kids play area for families.
Other works include demolishing the existing stairs and terrace facing Bayshore Drive, existing parking in the northwest, removing the mobile bar and getting rid of bike parking.
The plans also state the proposal had no intention of increasing the internal seating, and the total number of parking spaces will remain the same.
The report states the changes to the North Byron Hotel will provide a “positive contribution to the locality and Byron Bay as a whole”.
“The proposal will provide for improved facilities and experiences for patrons, which will have a social benefit to locals and tourists alike, and contribute positively to the local economy,” it states.
The proposal is expected to be out on public exhibition from May 21 until June 3.
The North Byron Hotel, which occupies the largest single pub site in Byron Bay, was put up for sale in 2024.
It had been listed for sale by JLL Hotels and Hospitality Group via an expressions of interest campaign.
