Thornleigh: Man hit with axe in alleged road rage attack
A man will face court after he allegedly hit another man on the head with an axe in a shocking road rage attack in Thornleigh.

A Mercedes driver allegedly used an axe to hit another driver on his head several times in a shocking road rage attack in Sydney’s upper north shore.
The alleged attacker, aged 41, has been charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, armed with intent commit indictable offence and affray.
He was granted conditional bail and is set to face Hornsby Local Court on January 20.
The alleged incident took place about 11.30am on Monday when a driver of a Mercedes Benz and the driver of a Honda Accord were driving on Loch Maree Ave in Thornleigh and stopped in traffic near the intersection of Pennant Hills Rd.
Police were told the Mercedes driver allegedly approached the other man, 46, and yelled at him and they became involved in an alleged altercation.
Soon after the Mercedes driver allegedly got the weapon out of his car and striked the victim several times on the head before fleeing the scene.
The victim was treated by NSW Ambulance at the scene before being taking to Royal North Shore Hospital.
Police managed to stop the Mercedes on the Pacific Highway at Waitara and arrested the driver he was taken to Hornsby Police Station.
The men are not believed to be known to each other.
