A luxury apartment building will soon be part Waitara’s changing skyline.
Developer Inca Property Group are beginning construction on “Tara on Park”, a block of one, two and three-bedroom apartments designed by A+ Design Group.
Scheduled to reach completion in early to mid-2024, the apartments will be located at 36A-38 Park Ave — opposite Mark Taylor Oval and a short walk from both Waitara’s city centre and Westfield Hornsby.
The Waitara apartment market has seen a boom in prices over the previous years. Median unit prices have risen 9.5 per cent since 2019 and median housing values have grown 26 per cent over the past 12 months.
Inca Property Group managing director Josh Thompson said the rise in apartment prices was in part due to the lifestyle changes brought on by Covid.
“(With more people) working from home, they’ve had the opportunity to look at areas that are a little bit further outside the city and as the urban sprawl happens we are seeing the price creep between suburbs as the population grows,” Mr Thompson said.
He believes part of Tara on Park’s appeal will also come from its more up-market nature.
“There’s been nothing like this developed in Waitara before … there’s no opportunity to buy anything that offers that elevated design and with people spending a lot more time at home we felt like there was a demand for that,” he said.
Tony Leung of A+ Design Group said Tara on Park had been designed with great care.
“The building is elegant in its form, characterised by gently curved balconies and an interplay of beautiful materials inside and out,” Mr Leung said.
“We felt the location commanded a superior design unlike anything that has been delivered in Waitara previously.”
Mr Thompson added: “Tara on Park is a perfect place for residents who want a great location in front of (a) park and a luxury apartment never seen before in Waitara.”
In a statement, the developers said they hoped the apartments would attract local downsizers who want to stay in Sydney’s upper north shore as well as first-time home buyers and investors.
When complete, the apartments will feature expansive room, ample storage and outdoor living space. The building will boast secure underground parking and three oversized penthouse apartments on the top levels.
There will also be an outdoor communal area with a garden and barbecues.
Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2023.
