Cherrybrook best friends and teammates Jenny Blundell and Michelle Jenneke are preparing to take to the track this week and early next week, as Blundell competes in her first heat of the 1500m on Saturday at 9.30am.
Margaret Blundell said her daughter had “finally arrived in Rio” on Tuesday morning.
“We get to meet up with her finally, after three very long months for me, at The Edge on Thursday and give her the traditional race day lollies, ” Ms Blundell said.
Michelle Jenneke will battle the best in the hurdling business on Tuesday in the first heat of the competition, while born-and-bred Turramurra athlete and equestrian competitor Edwina Tops-Alexander will compete in individual and team jumping on Sunday.
The 42-year-old competitor is representing Australia at her third Olympic Games.
