Former Gordon cricketer Axel Cahlin walked out for his new club for the first time in round one of Premier Cricket and turned plenty of heads with a cracking 123 from 135 in a well timed innings.
“First game at the club and a good way to start. It’s all down hill from here,” laughed Cahlin after his opening performance in Northern Districts win against the Campbelltown Camden Ghosts.

“I have a point to prove to get noticed but I have to try not to out pressure on me at the same time.”
The 22-year-old from Ermington, who is studying finance and commerce at Macquarie Uni and works as a cricket coach, is determined to stand out this season as he fights for recognitions from selectors.
“My aspiration is to play professionally,” said Cahlin, who moved to a new club for a fresh challenge and to play alongside batting coach David Larry. Larry scored 71 in Saturday’s outing.
The young gun has made his way through the NSW under 17 and under 19 pathways and was also in the Sydney Sixers Academy for a time.
He made his first grade debut at 16 and is now in his fifth full season of Premier Cricket.

His future goal is to play Sheffield Shield, BBL and for Australia and he sees Premier Cricket a launching pad.
“It’s where I get to show my wares,” he said.
“This is where the opportunities come from. If you aren’t playing at the highest level this is the next big thing.”
Saturdays performance was his ninth century in first grade cricket.
