She put her football career on hold for a red-hot crack at AFL and left a Giant mark on the game.

But now Northern Tigers FC player Ellie Brush is returning to familiar turf for what she says could potentially be her last season as an elite soccer player.

The talented cross-coder has signed with Sydney FC for the 2019/20 W-League season after putting her elite soccer career on hold to play AFLW with the Giants.

“I had a fantastic time with the Giants, I can’t speak highly enough of the club,’’ said Brush, a standout for the Giants in a disappointing season for the women’s team.

“Towards the end of the season I realised I wanted to play W-League again.

“A couple of clubs approached me and I gave it a big think. It was nice to hear people think you still have it.

“I was a really difficult decision but ultimately I though it would be a fantastic opportunity to play for a hugely successful club.

“They (Sydney FC) are the current champions and most of the squad have returned which shows they must have a great culture there.’’

Alongside Brush, whose North Turramaurra based Tigers side finished second on penalties in the women’s national premier league, the Sydney FC title defending squad also boasts three Matildas and a mix of youth and experience.

Australian guns Caitlin Foord, Chloe Logarzo and Alana Kennedy headline the squad with 15 players from the outfit which on the W-League crown last season retained.

“At the moment I’m looking at this just for the season but I’ll see where it takes me,’’ said Brush, 31, who lives at Wentworth Point.

“I’m not definitely saying it will be my last and I am getting older. But to go out on a high would be a nice fairytale. We’ll see where it takes me.’’

Brush previously played for both Canberra and Western Sydney in the W-League.
