ROADS and Maritime Services are calling on local commuters to comment on proposed plans that could see bus stops removed and increasing space between stops — in an attempt to make travel times more reliable for customers.

The proposed changes to services will see nine bus stops removed across routes from Hornsby to Blacktown, including four bus stops consolidated into two at Francis Greenway Dr in Cherrybrook and one new bus stop in Thornleigh.

Several bus stops will also be modified to see spacing between stops to be more than 400 meters due to “local conditions”, with the proposed changes to come into effect in 2018.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesman said a review of environmental factors for the proposed changes will be on display until September 25, to give the community a chance to provide feedback on proposed changes that will impact their daily commute.

“The community is encouraged to provide feedback on proposed changes to some bus stops along the corridor which is serviced primarily by routes M60, T70 and T71,” an RMS spokesman said.

“The NSW Government is making changes to a number of bus stops on some of Sydney’s busiest routes as part of the Bus Priority Infrastructure Program.

“The proposed improvements aim to provide a more reliable bus network which is more efficient and convenient for customers.”

The spokesman said proposed changes will be made to bus stops along the corridor between Hornsby and Blacktown via Cast Hill, and will include changes at Macquarie, County and Francis Greenway drives at Cherrybrook, Pennant Hills Rd at Pennant Hills, Thornleigh and Normanhurst, the Pacific Hwy at Hornsby, as well as Norwest Blvd at Baulkham Hills and Victoria Ave, Carrington Rd, McMullen Ave and Castle Hill Rd at Castle Hill.

“Bus stops near schools, aged care facilities and shopping centres have been carefully considered to ensure access to these vital services is maintained,” the spokesman said.

“As part of the proposed changes, some on street parking spaces will be removed to make it easier for buses to move in and out of stops.

Local residents can provide feedback on the plans until September 25, by emailing buspriority@rms.nsw.gov.au or calling 1800 575 250.
