Disturbing details have been revealed of a man in Sydney’s upper north shore who allegedly expressed sexual fantasies of a nine-year-old child to the mother online.
The Wahroonga man, 56, was actually speaking to police the entire time, and not the online profile of a 39-year-old mother.
He was arrested by detectives about 8am on Tuesday before his home was raided where a number of items were seized including a mobile phone, computers and electronic storage devices.
He is facing a raft of charges including use carriage service to groom person under 16 years for sex with another, use carriage service to plan harm to person under 16 years and use carriage service to transmit or publish or promote child abuse.
Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crime Squad’s Child Exploitation internet Unit began engaging with the man online in July where he allegedly engaged in sexually explicit conversations about acts he wished to perform on the child.
Police will allege he also sent sexually explicit material and allegedly arranged to meet the woman and child in person.
The man was refused bail at Hornsby Local Court on Tuesday and is set to reappear on November 10.
Anyone with concerns about suspected child abuse or exploitation should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page.
