16-year-old wheelchair-bound boy killed in Hornsby after he was hit by a truck

A MOTORISED wheelchair-bound 16-year-old boy was struck and killed by a truck and dog yesterday afternoon, Police have confirmed.

A MOTORISED wheelchair-bound 16-year-old boy was struck and killed by a truck and dog yesterday afternoon, Police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to the Peats Ferry Rd and Bridge Rd intersection about 4.15pm today after reports of a crash.

A man who lives nearby but who did not wish to be named told the Hornsby Advocate that he heard a truck slam on its breaks and he added it looked as if someone was hit while crossing Bridge Rd.

Police confirmed the 16-year-old died at the scene and the driver was taken to Hornsby Hospital to undergo mandatory testing.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area with Peats Ferry Rd closed, between Coronation and Mildred streets.

Officers from Ku-ring-gai Local Area Command attended along with the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit and are investigating the incident.
