A young man threatened to brutally “butcher” his girlfriend’s mother in a barrage of messages and missed calls.

Hasan Rahman, 24, pleaded guilty to using a carriage service (email) to harass as well as stalk and intimidate and faced Hornsby Local Court on Tuesday (April 18).

Facts outline the horrific threats contained within the 53 emails Rahman sent to his ex-partner.

“I‘ll go to Lebanon and run through your mum’s house and butcher her,” Rahman emailed.

“I need to carry out my revenge on you, or I will never be able to live in this world anymore”.

The court heard the pair had been in a relationship for three years when the woman dumped him over text in October while they were in Melbourne.

Magistrate Alex Mijovich described Rahman’s attempts to get the woman back as “neanderthal tactics”.

Facts state the woman was so scared of Rahman that she waited until he was on a plane back to Sydney before moving to an undisclosed Melbourne address.

“She has anxiety that he will hurt, kidnap, or kill her,” police facts stated.

The court heard the pair were soon to be married, after a three-year relationship.

The victim told police Rahman was “financially, emotionally, verbally and physically abusive” toward her, the court heard.

Facts state Rahman made 79 calls from a private number to the victim.

Rahman was arrested on February 23.

The court heard Rahman has a criminal history from 2016 containing other matters of domestic violence, destroy property and stalk/intimidate.

Defence solicitor Fahim Khan acknowledged the victim and her family would have been scared but said the Turramurra man felt remorse and was willing to undertake community service.

Mr Mijovich said he had to consider if full-time custody was appropriate, given Rahman’s criminal history and the seriousness of the threats.

“Everyone is scared in court when they‘re facing jail – it’s what they do out there that I have to consider,” Mr Mijovich said.

Rahman was handed a two year community corrections order with 100 hours of community service to complete.

He was also placed on an AVO, banning him from contacting the victim unless through a lawyer.
