Five police and emergency services incidents from the past week across the Hornsby Shire.

Berowra Waters

The cause of a fire which destroyed a home at Berowra Waters is still being investigated by fire investigators.

Firefighters were called to the home overlooking Berowra Creek about 9am last Wednesday.

Close to a dozen Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue crews worked to fight the blaze, which had already destroyed a home and was threatening two others when firefighters arrived.

Hornsby Ku-ring-gai RFS district officer Bill Robb said yesterday the cause of the fire was still under investigation.

A resident told the Advocate that the owners of the home had been renovating it for at least four years.

Hornsby

A vehicle parked on Hunter Lane was broken into overnight on Saturday and about $4000 cash was stolen.

The vehicle was broken into sometime between 4.30pm on Saturday and 7.15am on Sunday.

Berowra

A 31-year-old Bankstown man is due to front court after allegedly breaking the speed limit by more than 60km/h while also driving on a suspended licence on the M1.

Police observed the man driving about 105km/h through a 40km/h road work zone on the M1 heading southbound near Berowra.

He was stopped and spoken to. He has been charged with driving while suspended and also exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h.

Wahroonga

A piggy bank containing about $150 and two watches were stolen from a property in the vicinity of Spring Gully Pl between Tuesday, May 21, and Friday, May 31.

A kitchen window was smashed during the break-in. Police are investigating.

An 18-year-old Galston man has been charged with mid-range drink driving after being stopped for a random breath test on Galston Rd about 12.40am on Saturday.

The man allegedly failed a roadside breath test and was taken to Hornsby police station.

He allegedly returned a breath analysis of 0.090 and will front court at a future date.
