PLANS for an Aldi, a second floor of office space and a gym at Cherrybrook Village Shopping Centre may be hanging in the balance.
Mirvac centre management failed to answer questions from the Advocate seeking clarification around whether or not its masterplanned redevelopment of Cherrybrook Village shopping centre will continue to go ahead — as several shopfronts become vacant.
A ‘game of whispers’ has run wild across the centre, claiming the $36.9 million redevelopment has been scrapped, despite the State Government approving the proposal in September last year.
Stage two of the redevelopment would include the demolition of the existing childcare centre, expansion of the retail floor space, the addition of a second level to include offices, a medical centre and gymnasium.
Centre manager Natasha Storch said Mirvac made the commitment to delivering phase one of the masterplan.
“These works, which include a new car park entry, reconfiguration of the on-grade car park and pedestrian access ramp, are due for completion in October,” she said.
“We will assess the results of the car park upgrade works before committing to any further works at Cherrybrook Village.”
Ms Storch said several leases of shopfronts at the centre recently expired, paving the way for a new cafe and restaurant, The Brook by Arthur Anton from Hornsby’s Blu Water Grill and an Indian grocer to be introduced to the centre.
“We view these as exciting opportunities for change to the centre but we are committed to making the right choices for Cherrybrook Village that reflects the ever changing needs that our discerning community deserves,” she said.
“We are also working closely with Oliver Brown, Cherrybrook medical centre, Leilani Boutique and Liquorland on relocations and upgrades which will ensure they continue to provide the best possible quality and service to our shoppers.”
