Cash splash on Turramurra works as part of Ku-ring-gai budget

TURRAMURRA town centre may finally get its facelift after funds were allocated to the project in the Ku-ring-gai Council budget.
A council spokeswoman told the Advocate $605,000 had been allocated in the 2018-2019 budget to progress the Turramurra Community Hub.
The plans include building a library and multi-purpose community centre, a park and town square, improved streetscapes, pavements and road infrastructure, new housing, a supermarket and shops as well as more parking.
The council completed its masterplan for the precinct in February last year following extensive community consultation.
Construction for the precinct is expected to start in 2020.
The council will use some of the $63 million in rates it will collect next year to fund millions of dollars worth of infrastructure projects across the upper north shore.
More than $10 million will go towards the upgrade of roads and footpaths across the local government area, while $14.8 million will be set aside for the redevelopment of sporting fields and parkland.
A total of $5.7 million will be allocated to protecting the natural environment while $3.4 million will be spent improving community buildings, the council’s operational plan said.
A Ku-ring-gai Council spokeswoman said millions of dollars would go towards the upgrade of community facilities in Turramurra and Wahroonga.
More than $1.5 million has been allocated for the new park at Duff St, Turramurra, while $449,000 will be used for playground upgrades in Lindfield and Turramurra.
A total of $253,000 fill fund the construction of footpaths in Warrawee and Wahroonga.
