Asquith: Police investigate stabbing at Peats Ferry Rd apartment
A MAN has been charged after police found a woman with stab wounds at an Asquith apartment where a birthday party was held last night.
THREE people were stabbed during a birthday party in an Asquith apartment last night, police have said.
A 32-year-old man has since been charged with two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray, and resisting/hindering police.
He appeared at Hornsby Local Court on Tuesday and has been remanded in custody to appear again at the same court on August 10.
Kuring-Gai Superintendent Jenny Scholz said six people, believed to be mainly from an Iranian background, were inside the Peats Ferry Rd home when a dispute began.
Police responded to reports of people arguing about 10.30pm.
“There was a large amount of blood in the common areas of the apartment building,’’ Supt Scholz said.
“A crime scene was declared in regards to the unit and the investigation is continuing in regards to forensics.”
Police found the 32-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, who were initially reported uninjured.
However, police said the woman — who was celebrating her birthday — received a minor stab wound. Both people were taken to Hornsby police station with the woman later released.
Another woman, aged 29, was found lying on the floor suffering a wound to her side and buttocks.
Paramedics treated her before taking her to Hornsby Hospital where she remained in a stable condition on Tuesday.
Another man, 33, presented himself at Hornsby Hospital with critical stab wounds to his stomach and upper torso. He was treated in the intensive care unit but was reportedly in a stable condition on Wednesday at Hornsby Hospital.
