West Pennant Hills: Saw blade lands on man at NorthConnex site
A 26-YEAR-OLD man has been rushed to hospital after a saw blade, weighing more than a tonne, crushed his leg at a NorthConnex tunnel site in Sydney’s north.

A 26-YEAR-OLD man has been rushed to hospital after a saw blade, weighing more than a tonne, crushed his leg at a NorthConnex worksite in West Pennant Hills.
NSW Ambulance said they received a call about 10.10am today following the incident which happened at the NorthConnex tunnel site off Pennant Hills Rd.
NSW Ambulance said a saw blade weighing between one and 1.5 tonnes had fallen on the man, crushing his right leg.
He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition by ambulance at 10.50am.
NSW Police said the man was brought to the surface from a tunnel at the site.
A SafeWork NSW spokeswoman said they were investigating the worksite incident.
“SafeWork is investigating an incident on a worksite in West Pennant Hills,” she said.
“A worker has been injured and taken to hospital. SafeWork’s inquiries are ongoing.”
NorthConnex is a nine kilometre tunnel that will link the M1 Motorway at Wahroonga to the M2 Motorway at West Pennant Hills.
The $3 billion project is expected to be completed at the end of 2019 and tunnelling started in 2016.
