Cattai Creek foot bridge approved connecting Kellyville and Glenhaven

KELLYVILLE and Glenhaven will be separated no more after plans for a pedestrian and cyclist bridge was approved.

NSW Planning Minister Rob Stokes with Hills Shire Mayor Michelle Byrne and Castle Hill state Liberal MP Ray Williams announced the pathway to connect the two suburbs today.

KELLYVILLE and Glenhaven will be separated no more after plans for a pedestrian and cyclist bridge over Cattai Creek was approved.

The Hills Shire Council project received $200,000 in State Government funding for the “missing trail link” off Rosebery Rd, Kellyville.

It will connect the area to the Greenway Trail running from Bella Vista Farm to the Rouse Hill Regional Park.

The funding will be used for surveying, design and building works for the bridge and pathway as well as creating signs to guide locals through the thoroughfare.

NSW Planning Minister Rob Stokes said the project would provide an inviting opportunity for people to venture out into nature, while also improving the local infrastructure.

“One of this government’s priorities is fighting obesity among kids,” he said. “This is creating a chance to get out in one of the most beautiful parts in the most beautiful city.

“This is also taking away any excuses for people not to get out into nature.”

Castle Hill state Liberal MP Ray Williams believed locals would become passionate about their surrounding environment.

“This is all protected bushland and species and we’re getting people up close and personal to it,” Mr Williams said.

The project is expected to be up and running by early 2017 after it is put to tender next month.
