A free super clinic run by the Sydney Kings has made a triumphant return to Hills Basketball Stadium with 300 future stars of the sport last week packing out the brand new facility to learn and have some fun alongside their NBL heroes.

The free event saw the entire Kings coaching and playing group spend Tuesday afternoon leading kids from across the greater Hills area through a series of games and drills as well as take some time for pictures and autographs.

The clinic followed last month’s Hills Association Game Night, which saw the Kings honour Karen Burke of the Hills Hornets for her ‘I am a Girl’ program, which encourages female participation in basketball.

The clinic attracted young players from all over the greater Hills area.

Sydney Kings’ Hills representative Todd Blanchfield said he was thrilled with the clinic’s success.

“I was actually really impressed with the turnout,” Blanchfield said.

“It was really the first big clinic I’ve done in Sydney and that’s the first time I’ve seen the stadium’s new facilities 100 per cent completed.

“It’s a really awesome stadium.”

With the club currently stranded at the bottom of the NBL ladder, the Kings swingman said it was good to be able to take a brief break from the pressures of the season.

“It was great to get to go out there and just muck around a bit and take our minds off everything,” Blanchfield said.

“A lot of these kids come to every one of our games but don’t always get to stay behind and meet the team so it’s nice to give them the opportunity to meet and hang out with the boys.

“The season definitely hasn’t gone as planned and to train so hard and put in so much work every week to not get the rewards on the weekend has been tough.

“But we’re all putting in 100 per cent and we’ll continue to take it one game at a time and hopefully start to turn things around.”

From January 22-24, the Kings will be teaming up with the Sydney Flames and MAD Basketball for an elite camp aimed at uncovering the next Ben Simmons.
