From healthy canteen options to mental health support programs, the Kellyville Bushrangers JRLFC is an organisation that prides itself on being a safe and inclusive pillar of the community.
As a result of Kellyville’s efforts in creating positive change, the club has been awarded $1000 after being named nib foundation Good Sports Junior Club of the Year.
Funded by the Australian and NSW Governments, the Good Sports Awards recognise and celebrate the passionate clubs and people who inspire healthy and strong sporting communities throughout the country.
Since joining the Good Sports Junior program, Kellyville’s canteen has healthier food options, families have been educated on healthy eating, anti-social sideline behaviour has been
removed and the club continues to promote respect through all aspects of the game.
“We’re proud to be a part of the Good Sports organisation and it’s a massive honour to win the award,” Kellyville’s secretary James Power said.
“We’re not a massive club but we’ve had a really concerted effort from our committee to ensure we’re at the forefront of what this program represents.
“We want to be the role models for the future of community sport.”
