Sophie Burnett, Kayla Osborn, Chloe Morris and Tayla Moore have qualified for state teams to compete at the Australian championships in four sports.

Sophie, 12, of Castle Hill, will compete at the Australian softball championships later this month, while Dural duo Kayla, 12, and Chloe, 11, have qualified for the national level in football and rock climbing respectively.

Chloe finished ninth at the 2018 Australian rock climbing championships after only picking up the sport this year.

Finally Tayla, 10, also of Dural, will compete in shot put and discus at the 2018 School Sport Australia track and field championships in Melbourne later this month.

Year 6 teacher Jerome Wicks says the magnitude of a school of 762 having four students represent at the national level should not be taken lightly.

“It is an amazing time for our school … to have such achievement in our students and their sporting pursuits,” Mr Wicks said.

“To have four girls make it to compete at Australian championships in four different sports is extremely rare and a feat that should be celebrated. It also bodes very well for our younger students to see their peers achieving at such high levels and it is especially pleasing to see our girls achieving their best.

“Through these successes it will provide our female students extra encouragement to take up sport as an extra-curricular option in their lives.”
