Seven Hills man, 36, charged in alleged drug syndicate across Sydney

Another man has been charged for his alleged role in a joint drug importation syndicate after cops seized 150kg of pseudoephedrine. Investigations continue.

A second man has been charged for his alleged involvement in a joint drug importation syndicate of 150kg of pseudoephedrine, worth a staggering $7.5 million in street value.

The 36-year-old Seven Hills man faced Central Local Court on Wednesday charged with three counts of import commercial quantity border-controlled precursor.

He was arrested at around 9.30pm on Tuesday at Sydney International Airport and was taken to Surry Hills police station.

Police will allege in court investigations under Strike Force Nilland identified a criminal syndicate involved in the importation, storage and supply of pseudoephedrine across Sydney.

Officers from the State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Squad, Australian Border Force (ABF) and the NSW Crime Commission (NSWCC) began investigating in May 2021 under Strike Force Nilland, after a suspicious imported arrangement was intercepted by the ABF in Sydney.

Upon examination, the consignment allegedly had 41kg of pseudoephedrine concealed within metal pallets.

Further inquiries led to 49kg of pseudoephedrine being intercepted and located by ABF officers, which was concealed in bags of desiccated coconut, as well as 48kg of pseudoephedrine concealed inside mattresses.

During the investigation, strike force detectives charged the first man, also a 36-year-old, who remains before the courts.

The Seven Hills man was refused bail and will appear at the same court on March 16.
