Semisi Paea threatens media after his mention at Parramatta Court

A spectator charged with allegedly assaulting a parent at a children’s rugby league game in Kellyville has appeared in Parramatta Local Court.

Semisi Paea, 34, appeared in court for the first time for a mention after allegedly punching a parent on June 29.

The assault took place after officials told Paea to first leave the game because of the way he was behaving towards a referee.

Police later went to his house in Seven Hills to arrest him on July 9.

He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Paea was also charged with affray, using unlawful violence towards a man by conduct such that a person of reasonable firmness, if present at the scene, would have feared for their safety.

He was granted conditional bail and ordered not to approach, contact or attempt to contact the victim he allegedly assaulted.

The man has also been required to not attend an event or game, run by the Kellyville Bushrangers or Rouse Hill Rhinos Rugby League clubs.

Both clubs have been contacted, however the Kellyville Bushrangers Junior Rugby League Club have declined to comment.

The Rouse Hill Rhino Rugby League club is yet to respond.

The Sydney Rugby Referees Association has also been contacted for comment but have not responded by time of publication.

Police will allege there was another man, Paea’s co-accused who is yet to be named and charged, who they said punched an official in the face.

As Paea left court this afternoon he threatened the media to: “Get all this stuff out of my face before I put someone to sleep.”

He is due to face Parramatta Local Court again on August 28.
