The Sydney Hills Outdoor Cinema returns next year with an extended season, a beach theme and plenty for film fans to enjoy.

The Sydney Hills Outdoor Cinema returns next year with an extended season, a beach theme and plenty for film fans to enjoy.

The 2018 season has been extended from four to six weeks, running from January 11 to February 18.

Event organiser Michael Watson said 100 tonnes of sand would transform Castle Hill Showground into a summer oasis.

“It’ll be the full beach vibe,” he said.

Dining this year will include Epic Pizza — sold by the slice or the huge 22-inch to pizza to share — as well as Twisted Frozen Yoghurt and classic candy bar fare.

For those over 18, Pimm’s will serve up drinks to enjoy.

“Pimm’s and pizza is just perfect for the cinema,” Mr Watson said.

Patrons can bring a blanket or low chair or opt for one of the VIP packages, including banana lounges in the Smooth VIP area, the VIP Bell Tent or the ultimate beach experience in the Cabana Class with king-size beds and overhead draping.

Social app Bumble and car brand Infiniti Castle Hill will offer guests the chance to win VIP experiences throughout the season.

The diverse movie program will include blockbusters such as Justice League, Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Blade Runner 2049; children’s movies including Ferninand, Paddington 2 and Coco as well as classics such as Mrs Doubtfire and Dirty Dancing.

The program will have some Throwback Thursday nights with classic films as well as date nights on Fridays and family nights on Saturdays.

The cinema will run on Thursdays to Sundays, with gates opening at 6.30pm and films to start at 8pm or 8.30pm depending on light.

Early bird tickets will be released tomorrow (Wednesday, November 29) and there will be 20 per cent off general admission tickets until December 14.
