Construction on Australia’s first Sikh and Indian school with a boarding school, temple and library for 1260 students has started at Tallawong Rd in Rouse Hill after getting the green light from the state government.
The Sikh Grammar School, near Tallawong Metro station, will cater to 1260 students from kindergarten to Year 12 when it opens in 2023.
The 10-acre school will house an early learning centre for 86 children, boarding accommodation for staff and students, a library, a temple and indoor and outdoor sporting facilities.
“This new school will provide state-of-the-art learning environments for 1260 students from kindergarten to year 12 near Tallawong Metro station,” Mr Stokes said.
“We have many different types of religious schools across NSW including those of Christian, Jewish and Muslim faith.
“This will be the first school dedicated to Sikhism teachings and the local Sikh community has been instrumental in making it happen.”
Riverstone state Liberal MP Kevin Conolly said the building of the facility would inject
more than $167 million into the local economy and create 280 construction jobs and 120 operational jobs once up and running.
“Construction on the 10 acre site will be done in stages over the next decade to ensure infrastructure keeps up with demand,’’ he said.
