Plea following dirt bike thefts in Baulkham Hills and Rouse Hill

FOLLOWING a series of break and enters, police are urging people to be careful when selling items online and giving out their addresses.

A dirt bike was stolen from Grevillea Grove in Baulkham Hills, worth about $20,000, during the night of Saturday, October 6.

A few days later, on Tuesday, October 9, another dirt bike was stolen from a property on Aberdour Ave in Rouse Hill between 8am and 4.30pm.

In both cases, the dirt bikes were sold online and the seller gave out their address to the buyer. The buyer did not turn up to purchase the bikes.

However, the following day or night the item has been stolen.

Hills police acting crime manager Evan Davies said similar cases had been reported in recent weeks across the region.

“Police are asking people to consider meeting in a public place when selling items online to avoid these issues, and also to read through the safety guidelines available on relevant websites.”

Websites such as Gumtree have a checklist for selling items safely.

Three males wearing hoodies broke into a store at Winston Hills Mall on Caroline Chisholm Drive stealing about $10,000 worth of goods, including mobile phones.

A 31-year-old man from Carlingford is facing a long list of charges after being stopped for driving without numberplates attached to his vehicle.

Police allegedly found a knife and cannabis inside his car after stopping the driver on Castle St about 8.15pm on Saturday.

He has been charged with breach of bail, driving while disqualified, driving an unregistered car, using a defected vehicle, not displaying registration plates, possessing a prohibited drug, and possess a knife in a public place. He will appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday.

An 18-year-old Dubbo man will face court after crashing his car in front of police.

Police followed the man, due to the manner of his driving, before he crashed into a letterbox on Roger Ave about 1pm on Friday. A search of his car uncovered cannabis which was allegedly packaged for supply.

He is facing numerous charges including negligent driving and supplying a prohibited drug. He is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday, November 7.

Rouse Hill

A fight involving six males saw one person taken to hospital with lacerations to his head on Saturday night.

The fight happened on Main St near the Rouse Hill Town Centre about 9pm on Saturday. Police said alcohol is believed to be a factor.

Police are investigating and would like to speak with anyone involved or anyone who witnessed the alleged fight.

Dural

A 38-year-old man from Glenorie will face court for driving while disqualified after showing police a fake licence.

The man was stopped for a random breath test on Old Northern Rd about 1.50am on Friday.

He allegedly produced a fake licence and was found to be disqualified from driving until August 2019. He is due to front Parramatta Local Court on November 1.

Castle Hill

A 19-year-old man has been arrested for trespassing after being spotted throwing items into the path of oncoming traffic.

The man was arrested on Parsonage Rd about 10am last Wednesday and has been charged with resisting arrest and trespassing.

Police approached the man after he was spotted displaying erratic behaviour throwing items onto Old Northern Rd in Baulkham Hills.

The man ran off and trespassed through a number of properties before being arrested.

North Kellyville

A 36-year-old woman was arrested last Tuesday after not turning up to court for driving while disqualified.

Police arrested the woman on Indwarra Ave about 3.15pm. She is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on October 10.
