A 10-million dollar golf facility is being earmarked for Norwest Business Park with plans lodged to Hills Shire Council this month.

The application by Mulpha Norwest includes a two storey golf driving range and 18-hole mini-golf centre.

The plans also include a function marquee, cafe, food outlet, amusement centre, outdoor seating area, amenities building and car park.

The location on Norbrik Drive is situated between Norwest Private Hospital and Bella Vista Station precinct within Norwest Business Park.

Norwest Business Park has been identified by the state government as a “strategic growth centre” and is therefore set to grow from its existing 265,000sq m to in excess of 500,000sq m.

A multimillion dollar university campus is also being proposed for the centre of Norwest Business Park by the same developer.

Executive general manager of Mulpha Norwest, Tim Spencer, described the golf facility as a “positive addition to the area”.

“As the parent developer of Norwest Business Park we see the need to deliver community-oriented infrastructure and this is an opportunity to enhance the food, beverage and entertainment part which has been underdeveloped,” Mr Spencer said.

“For us it is multifaceted infrastructure — one member can use the golf range and another can use the cafe.”

The 5000ha site is currently empty.

Hills Shire councillor Peter Gangemi described it as an “innovative use of the site”.

“At a time when golfing ranges seem to be swallowed up by development I think it is refreshing to see this one going in and bucking the trend,” he said.
