CLEAR your weekends for the next month — fete season is upon us again and there are plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained.
On Sunday from 10am, get ready for what is dubbed the “Easter show of the northwest” at the Samuel Gilbert Primary School’s Great Fete.
Sponsorship co-ordinator Kara Atkinson said it was going to be a ball of fun as it coincides with the end of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
The outdoor activities include 15 carnival rides, pony rides, slot cars, an international food court and bubble soccer.
More than 8000 people attended the Ridgecrop Drive school for the Great Fete last year and the Parents and Citizens Association’s fete committee expected this year to be bigger and better than ever.
“The attention and support for our Great Fete from our local community is just phenomenal,” Ms Atkinson said.
“All funds raised go directly back to our children and our school. It’s a very busy and exciting time and a sensational community event to be a part of.”
Another event to keep an eye on is the Roselea Public School fete on September 3 from 10am-4pm.
Talented students at the North Rocks Rd school in Carlingford will perform in the buskers’ corner with all funds going to the school.
Tasty tucker on offer includes Indian and Korean food, a sausage sizzle, hot chips as well as a snow cone to cool you down afterwards.
For the little ones, there will be seven amusement rides and an unlimited rides armband will be available on the day for $30.
There will also be plenty of stalls for parents to peruse and a silent auction of students’ artwork with all funds benefiting Roselea Public.
Glenorie Public School is hosting its country fair on September 18.
The fun begins at 10am for young and old alike.
The Old Northern Rd school will have a mini rollercoaster, a giant inflatable slide and the always-popular cup and saucer ride.
And it wouldn’t be a country fair without a bite to eat. The barbecue is fired up until 3pm for a mouth-watering sausage sizzle, chicken kebabs and kafta. There will also be homemade hummus, tabouli and garlic sauce for a flavoursome meal.
Entertainment will include students dancing, cheerleading, a fashion show and taekwondo and BMX demonstrations.
Winston Hills Public School also hopes to draw in the crowds for its annual fete on September 18.
All funds raised at the Hillcrest Ave school will go back into the school.
Browse the market stalls, grab something to eat and enjoy a day out with the little ones in Winston Hills.
So forget the diet, bring your wallet and help out our schools in an exciting few days of entertainment.
