THE vision to construct a new apartment building every year until 2024 was ambitious but it is now a reality.

Sekisui House’s The Orchards masterplan project at Norwest has been given the tick of approval by the NSW Planning Department and construction on stage one is near completion.

Operations manager Paul Wainwright and senior development manager George Gesouras revealed the master plan’s approval exclusively to the Times, as the developers prepare to welcome the first residents by January.

“We have been working extremely hard with the Hills Shire Council and we have recently had the masterplan approved,” Mr Wainwright said.

“Our plans are evolving from ideas to a design that will play a part of our final precinct that will include around 1300 homes.”

Mr Wainwright said interest in the precinct skyrocketed following the initial release of stage one and the major drawcards included infrastructure and amenities.

“We want this precinct to be somewhere that if you don’t want to leave, you don’t have to,” he said.

“There will be a lagoon, an outdoor cinema, a gym and aquatic zone …, but each building will also have its own exclusive amenities. There will be rooftop eateries and even ‘sky parks’ including an eating and dining precinct.”

Designer George Gesouras said the plan included an organic grocer and learning centre.

“We are now pressing the button on the finer detail and catering to the community that will live here,” Mr Gesouras said.

Families and existing residents have been some of the major purchasers according to Mr Wainwright, who said buyers have been within a 5km radius of Norwest.

“When stage one opens in January 2019, we will have the Sydney Metro North West to follow, as well as Bella Vistas Public School just across the road opening a few months later,” he said.

The Orchards project is worth more than $1 billion.
