A multimillion-dollar plan from the NSW Government will see two new primary schools built in Sydney’s west — expected to cater for more than 1000 students and cost upwards of $75 million each.
Education Minister Sarah Mitchell and Education Parliamentary Secretary Kevin Conolly revealed a new primary school will be built in Nirimba Fields, while another will be built in This Hills suburb of Gables.
Ms Mitchell revealed exclusive to NewsLocal the Nirimba Fields school, expected to cost between $25 and $75 million to complete, will be built at a site on the corner of Triton and Nabthorpe parades, Nirimba Fields.
The site of the new primary school at Gables, in The Hills, has not been confirmed, however, School Infrastructure figures also estimate construction to cost between $25 and $75 million for The Hills district school.
“North West Sydney is a fantastic place to live, work and raise a family,” Ms Mitchell said.
“This government has overseen the expansion and growing prosperity of these thriving
communities, and we are committed to supporting their continued growth and success.”
Meanwhile, Mr Conolly said the NSW Government wanted “all students across NSW to have access to modern learning facilities that support them to achieve their best”.
Western Sydney Minister, David Elliott, said the level of investment in infrastructure throughout Sydney’s northwest was unprecedented.
“The NSW Government will continue to invest in North Western Sydney to deliver for growing communities and families,” he said.
As many as 1000 students are expected to be catered for at Nirimba Fields’ new primary school, which will feature “ fit-for-purpose learning spaces”.
School Infrastructure NSW confirmed early planning had begun on the multimillion-dollar project in July, with investigations on demographic trends, education requirements, catchment boundaries, heritage requirements and transport links.
