A former real estate boss charged with commercial drug supply has been sentenced for speeding and drug driving.
Michael Gary Flanagan, 51, was charged after he was clocked driving 129km/h in a 100km/h zone on the M4 on September 24, 2023, with police allegedly uncovered a swag of illicit drugs in his car.
He was charged with one count commercial drug supply, one count of indictable drug supply, one count of supply drugs on an ongoing basis, two counts of possessing a restricted substance, custody of a knife in a public place, speeding, possessing drugs and drug driving.
Earlier charges of supplying between a small and indictable amount of drugs, supply drugs on an ongoing basis and dealing with proceeds of crime were withdrawn.
Flanagan has pleaded guilty to commercial drug supply, supply drugs on an ongoing basis charges, speeding and drug driving; but is yet to enter a plea to the remaining charges.
Flanagan faced Penrith Local Court on Friday, July 26, where he was sentenced for the speeding and drug driving charges.
The court was told after Flanagan was pulled over for speeding, he was drug tested and returned a positive reading for meth in his system.
Lawyer Jack Leitner told the court the offending came at a “highly emotional time” for his client, who had been dealing with a relationship breakdown at the time.
He said this breakdown essentially sent him on a “spiral”.
Flanagan had once owned a real estate business in the Hills district, but was currently unemployed.
He was fined $2900 for the speeding and drug driving and had his licence disqualified for 12 months.
He will face Parramatta District Court for the remaining charges on August 9.
