Marian Catholic College students have a wonderful record in making a difference in the community.

Fiona Livingstone, the PDHPE Leader of Learning at the Kenthurst school, said these students have served hundreds of hours within the school, parish and local community by volunteering in agriculture, mission, social justice, girl guides, religious education teaching, the arts and sport.

“The program recognises the contribution volunteers make towards strengthening our communities,” Ms Livingstone said.

“It celebrates exceptional volunteers and acknowledges the desire and commitment required to take part in community life across all ages.

“Living out the words of Saint Mary MacKillop, one of our college House saints ‘Never see a need without doing something about it’, ten of our students were recognised as part of this prestigious program.

“Some of the social justice initiatives many of these students have been involved in include the Vinnies Winter Appeal, Vinnies Van for the Homeless, Animal Husbandry Project for the less fortunate, letter writing to orphanages and nursing homes, and sewing dresses for underprivileged children. ”
