John Parbery: Kurrajong man charged with alleged assault, sexual intercourse with minor

A man from Sydney’s northwest outskirts has been hit was a slew of historic child sexual abuse charges, with police alleging he had sexual intercourse with a minor.

A man from Sydney’s northwest outskirts has been charged with a slew of alleged sexual misconduct and assault offences dating back to the early 1990s.

Kurrajong man John William Parbery appeared before Hornsby Local Court after being charged with a series of alleged offences. He has not yet entered any pleas.

The 73-year-old faces four charges — three counts of alleged indecent assault and one count of sexual intercourse with a minor, aged between 10 and 16.

According to documents tendered to Hornsby Local Court, these allegations all date back to a four-day span during the early 1990s.

Police will allege in one instance Parbery had sexual intercourse with the minor at Berowra Waters.

He is also accused of engaging in “passionate open-mouthed kisses” with the alleged victim, court documents state.

There are two further instances of the alleged sexual misconduct against the minor, a court heard.

In one instance, at Kurrajong, Parbery is alleged to have “touched her breasts through her clothes while touching his groin,” court documents state.

In the second instance, which allegedly took place at Berowra Waters, he is accused of having “kissed and touched her breast through her blouse,” a court heard.

Parbery was apprehended by police and charged with these four counts of alleged sexual misconduct and assault on August 4.

He remains on bail with the matter due to return to Hornsby Local Court on November 16.
