Despite a promise it would be announced last month, the site for the $300 million Rouse Hill Hospital it still unknown.
In December, Riverstone state Liberal candidate Kevin Conolly told the Rouse Hill Times he had discussed the matter with Health Minister Brad Hazzard and an announcement was imminent.
Funding for the hospital was announced in the 2017 State Budget.
Riverstone Labor candidate Annemarie Christie slammed the government for allocating $700 million for Blacktown Hospital but less for Rouse Hill.
“We’re the fastest growing area in northwestern Sydney and we don’t have access to a hospital,’’ she said. “If you want to see a specialist you have to go to the private system or if you go public at Westmead you’ll be on the waiting list six to 12 months.
“We don’t have a scope for the services they’re going to offer.”
Mr Conolly said he was excited about Sydney’s newest hospital and Mr Hazzard “was being a bit coy”.
“To have a brand new hospital on a greenfield site is rare,” he said at the time.
Yesterday Mr Conolly confirmed he said he expected the announcement to be made last month but did not wish to comment.
A Health Infrastructure spokesman said: “Site negotiations are being finalised and an announcement will be made in the coming weeks.”
