Castle Hill

A 25-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly stripping down to his undies and taking a swim in a fountain at Castle Towers shopping centre.

Police patrolling the area came across the man about 8.45pm on Friday.

Police said he was seen splashing and swimming in the fountain.

Officers asked him to move on. However he allegedly became aggressive, yelling and swearing at police.

He was arrested and allegedly resisted and assaulted an officer in the process.

He has been charged with a list of offences including offensive behaviour, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.

He is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday, March 13.

Castle Hill

A 92-year-old woman had to be treated by paramedics after crashing her car into her own garage on Sunday morning.

Police said she lost control of the car and accelerated into the garage on Yandiah Pl.

Part of the garage’s brick wall fell onto the bonnet of the car. Police said she was treated by paramedics but did not need to be taken to hospital.

Leets Vale

A 27-year-old man was flown to hospital after falling from his jet ski on the Hawkesbury River on Sunday, a week after two men died in another jet ski incident on the same river.

The man was jet skiing with friends when he fell off and hit his head.

Bystanders provided initial care, taking him by boat to meet the CareFlight helicopter which had landed on the bank of the river just 50m away.

CareFlight treated the man for head injuries and took him to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

Wilberforce

A 60-year-old man’s body was found last Tuesday washed up on the Hawkesbury River near Wilberforce, two days after he was involved in a fatal jet ski incident.

Emergency services were called to the river about 10.30am on February 17 when three men, believed to be riding a jet ski, fell off at high speed.

One man managed to swim to safety but two men died.

A 49-year-old man was recovered from the water that day but could not be revived. A search for the missing 60-year-old man ended last Tuesday when his body washed ashore about 800m from the crash site. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

The Hills police has welcomed its newest officers who graduated from the Goulburn police academy last week.

Joshua Bitar, Matthew White, Brayden Schaefer, Jade Sinclair and Hamish McKenzie arrived at Castle Hill police station today ready for their first day of work.

“We’re looking forward to getting out and doing everything we have learned for the last eight months,” probationary constable Sinclair said.

Probationary constable Bitar said the variety of work attracted him to the police force.

“It is something different everyday and that is what we are all looking forward to.”
