THE latest water park to cool down locals is buckets of fun for young and old alike.
Nestled into the sprawling 450 acre vacation site Del Rio Riverside Resort up in Wisemans Ferry, the water park is a vibrant attraction with a tropical palm tree feature, a large red bucket that splashes water when overfilled and more nautical splashtacular features.
Owner Bill McNamara said it had been open for just over two weeks and was already popular with guests and the community.
“It’s been my dream for a couple of years,” he said.
“When we first started thinking seriously about it, it took 18 months including six months of construction.
“It has room to expand so we can add more to it.”
Mr McNamara said the coming additions would be a surprise for the young and young at heart.
Daughters Maureen and Sharon McNamara, who both work at the Chasling Rd holiday destination, said it ran on recycled water and would stop functioning unless the water sprouting out was clean and pure.
“You see little toddlers walking there through to men in their 80s,” Sharon said. “We ensure that parents are supervising their kids while they are in the park.
“We cater for the kids and we have lots of things here for them to do.”
Mr McNamara said it was the first water park in the Hawkesbury Council area.
Campers Eliarne and Darcy McCorkell had a ball in the water park, mixing it up with splashing in the pool.
“It’s so fun, I really like the bucket,” Eliarne said.
Stepsisters Zoe Davis and Hannah Collins gave the water feature the thumbs up as well.
“It’s very enjoyable in the hot weather and would be in summer,” Zoe said.
Guests staying at Del Rio can enter the water park for free while people stopping by Wisemans Ferry can pay $10 to come in and cool down.
