A COUPLE will face court today after an alleged kidnapping and assault of a 68-year-old woman in her bedroom in Cherrybrook yesterday.
Police allege a 39-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman kidnapped the woman from a home in Cherrybrook about 3am.
“It is believed they are all known to each other,” a NSW Police spokeswoman said.
“The 37-year-old woman is alleged to have physically assaulted the 68-year-old woman in her bedroom causing injuries to her face and body.
“The man and woman took the 68-year-old woman against her will in a vehicle to a home in Naremburn.”
Police said some time later the woman was driven to an address in Mosman, where she was told to go inside.
“Once inside, the woman alerted the resident of the home to contact police,” the spokeswoman said.
“The pair then drove away.”
The couple were arrested about 4.45pm yesterday at Naremburn and charged with taking and detaining for advantage, and causing grievous bodily harm.
They were refused bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court today.
The injured woman was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital with a possible fractured rib and cuts to her face and body.
