THE OWNER of a dental practice in Carlingford says it’s remarkable no-one was seriously injured after a car ploughed into the waiting room today.

Bricks were sent flying and the practice on Rembrandt St was evacuated after a car smashed into the side of Dr Willard Lee Dental about 10.40am.

Fortunately, there was no-one in the waiting room.

The car mounted a gutter and knocked over a road sign on its way to demolishing the waiting room wall.

“It could have been a different story. Even five or seven minutes earlier it would have been different,” Dr Lee said.

He said patients were in the waiting room less than 10 minutes prior and remarkably no-one was injured inside the practice.

“We were just working and heard a big, loud bang. I thought something had hit the roof,” he said.

“A second later, there was another loud bang and there was dust everywhere coming out from the walls.”

He said he thought the roof was going to fall down.

He quickly went and checked what was going on and found a car in the waiting room.

The car mounted a gutter and flattened a road sign on its way to demolishing the waiting room wall.

Dr Lee said the driver seemed okay and was not trapped in the wreckage.

Ambulance NSW said one person was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital in a stable condition mainly as a precaution, thought to be the driver.

Fire and Rescue NSW said three crews attended including a rescue pumper which was used to prop up the building.

The surgery has been closed for the day.
