Buy a White Ribbon at Castle Towers shopping centre to oppose violence against women
A White Ribbon sculpture unveiled at Castle Towers today gives people the chance to add their name to the campaign against violence to women.

As a child from a family affected by domestic abuse, Hills Shire Mayor Yvonne Keane holds the White Ribbon campaign close to her heart.
Today she placed the first white ribbon on a White Ribbon sculpture that has been installed at Castle Towers Shopping Centre.
The three D sculpture will be up until White Ribbon Day on November 25 and is a collaboration between Castle Towers and Hills Community Aid.
HCA executive officer Ben Jackson said people could buy a white ribbon for $5, write on it and place it on the sculpture during the next two weeks.
“It’s about creating awareness for men to speak up about domestic violence against women,” he said.
“We want men to support the campaign against violence against women and call it out if they see it.”
The display also includes information about the various services available for women who may need help..
Clr Keane said she was so glad that there was a public conversation about domestic violence.”
She highlighted the work being done with victims of domestic abuse by both the Hills-based Lisa Harnum Foundation and The Sanctuary — the Hills Women’s Shelter.
“At the end of the day we don’t want any more deaths,” she said.
The White Ribbon sculpture is on the top level near the escalators.
