THE biggest pedestrian bridge on the $8.3 billion Sydney Metro Northwest project has been installed at Kellyville.
The 80m long bridge was lifted in two place 6m above Old Windsor Rd at Kellyville last night.
A 500,000kg crane was used to lift the two bridge spans, weighing 157,000kg.
The bridge will link commuters to the Kellyville station and the Riley T-way bus stop when the station opens next year.
Kellyville Station will also include 1360 commuter parking spaces, four bus bays and parking and storage for 55 bicycles.
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Andrew Constance said the bridge installation was another milestone on the game-changing transport project.
“Metro rail will help give people more choice on how they get around Sydney,” Mr Constance said.
“This new pedestrian bridge will make it easier for customers to get to the new Kellyville station, one of 13 Sydney Metro stations opening next year.”
Sydney Metro services start in the second quarter of 2019 and extend into the CBD and Bankstown in 2024.
