Aussie Mens Sevens squad feeling confident ahead of 2019 Sydney Sevens

Kellyville’s Aussie Mens Rugby Sevens star Lachie Anderson is confident of the squad’s chances of retaining their title at next month’s Sydney Sevens

Kellyville’s Australian Mens Sevens star Lachie Anderson is confident that the squad will be able to secure back-to-back Sydney Sevens titles at next month’s tournament.

The 22-year-old starred for Australia in their 2017/18 World Series campaign, appearing in nine out of 10 legs and scoring 90 points throughout the season.

He also played a pivotal role in Australia’s 29-0 gold medal victory against South Africa at last year’s Sydney Sevens and says the team is ready for history to repeat itself.

“The lads are feeling pretty good at the moment and we’re pretty confident that we can get the job done,” Anderson said.

“Hopefully we can get a good crowd out there.”

After being held at Allianz Stadium since 2016, this year’s edition of the Sydney Sevens will be held at Spotless Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park from Friday, February 1 to Sunday, February 3.

It will be the first time the event is held in western Sydney.

“It’s a great opportunity for rugby fans in western Sydney,” Anderson said.

“They can expect some fast-paced, exciting games of rugby with plenty of tries and plenty of action across all three days.

“It’s always a great atmosphere and people always seem to really love it.”
