While it’s been a busy first week for the new principal at Northholm Grammar School, Chris Bradbury has still found the time to get back in the classroom and teach legal studies.

“I just think it is so good to still be in the classroom and it helps when you are working with parents and staff as well,” he said.

“I want to be at the front and living and breathing (education).”

Mr Bradbury joins the semirural school in Arcadia after 13 years working at The King’s School in North Parramatta, most recently as the director of teaching and learning.

He takes over as principal at Northholm from Lynne Guthridge who held the role for 10 years before resigning last year.

Mr Bradbury, who has coached junior teams at the Parramatta Eels and Wests Tigers in the past, said the school community had welcomed him warmly and he was excited about the year ahead.

“It’s terrific,” he said. “It is a wonderful school with a caring, nurturing community.”

He said one of the reasons he put his name forward for the role was because of the school’s ethos. “I really like what Northholm stands for: learning with purpose and living with passion.”

Mr Bradbury said his goal this year was to focus on three areas of school life including scholarship (academia), excellence and character.

He added the school’s Christian foundation taught good character which was a vital part of education.
