An elderly woman from Canberra’s southern suburbs has faced court after her car smashed into a car head on, with the impact resulting in the death of an unborn baby.

An 81-year-old Curtin woman has faced court after her car crashed head on into a car, with the impact killing the driver’s unborn baby.
Police stated that on November 16 2024, a grey Mazda 3 was travelling along the Glenloch Interchange slip road from Caswell Drive towards Parkes Way after midday.
The highway is one of the busiest road interchanges in the ACT.
A short time later the grey Mazda 3 collided head on with a maroon Haval station wagon.
The driver of the Haval, who was 32 weeks pregnant at the time of the collision, was transported to hospital.
The woman’s unborn baby did not survive as a result of the collision.
The driver of the Mazda 3 was charged with driving causing grievous bodily harm.
The elderly woman faced ACT Magistrate’s Court on Friday where her matter was adjourned to September 11 2025.
