In the Blacktown LGA in 2021, there were 12 cafes and eateries caught out flouting food safety and hygiene rules.
The NSW Food Authority’s Name and Shame Register has exposed the latest food safety offenders in Blacktown with a Korean Cafe and an Indian food and sweets store the worst offenders, with four and three separate breaches respectively.
In 2021, 12 businesses in the region received fines amounting to over $13,000, with one business being hit with $3,300 worth of fines for their breaches.
The NSW Food Authority publishes a list of breaches of food safety laws in its Name and Shame Register, with businesses which have been issued with a penalty notice listed on the register for 12 months.

Date handed breach notice: June 17, 2021
Mami Korean Restaurant were the worst offenders in the Blacktown Council area, racking up four fines in 2021.
They were fined $880 for failing to maintain the food premises to the required standard of cleanliness, $880 for failure to ensure hand washing facilities are only used for the washing of hands, arms and face and another $880 for failing to take all practicable measures to eradicate and prevent the harbourage of pests. They also copped a $660 infringement for failing to ensure that at least one food safety supervisor has been appointed for the premises.

Fined $660 for failing to ensure that at least one food safety supervisor has been appointed for the premises after previous warnings had been given. The store has since been permanently closed.
