Zaman Nasiry bail revoked after stolen truck, goods find in Cabramatta

A man banned from being in the front seat of any vehicle will remain behind bars on remand after police allegedly caught him in the driver’s seat of an allegedly stolen truck. But that wasn’t all that was allegedly uncovered.

A Pendle Hill man will remain behind bars on remand after he was caught in an allegedly stolen truck carrying more than $150,000 worth of stolen goods in Sydney’s south west.

Zaman Nasiry, 32, faced Parramatta Local Court on Saturday via videolink after police found him sat in the drivers seat of an allegedly stolen truck, stopped on Cabramatta Rd West, Cabramatta, about 9.40am on Friday.

Police spoke to Nasiry before they searched the vehicle and uncovered $150,000 worth of stolen lighting kits, housebreaking tools and 3.9g of meth.

It is alleged the lighting kits had been taken from a business in Artarmon, in Sydney’s north, between Sunday, January 19, and Monday, January 20.

Nasiry was arrested and taken to Fairfield police station, where he was charged with multiple offences, including two of goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (motor vehicle), two of hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, being armed with intent commit indictable offence, supply prohibited drug, driving disqualified, using a class A vehicle with an unauthorised number plate, driving a stolen vehicle, receiving or disposing of stolen property, possessing house breaking implements, custody of a knife in a public place and breaching bail.

In court on Saturday, Nasiry did not apply for bail.

The court was told Nasiry was on bail at the time for previous charges, with one of his conditions being that he not occupy the drivers seat of any vehicle.

Nasiry’s bail was revoked and he was remanded in custody.

He is next expected to face Fairfield Local Court on February 12.
