UFC Gyms opens its doors in Wetherill Park this Saturday giving locals the chance to participate in the world’s fastest-growing sport.
The Greenway Plaza and Homemaker Greenway franchise is the first of five expected to open this year across Sydney, and its grand opening has attracted two of the sport’s biggest stars, former UFC bantamweight world champion Miesha Tate and Australian middleweight contender Robert Whittaker.
UFC Gyms operations director Jason Laurence said the gym had some big goals, including tackling childhood obesity.
“We are offering fitness sessions where kids as young as five can train side-by-side with their parents in our Daily Ultimately Training class,” Mr Laurence said.
“It’s a totally different look and feel in a UFC Gym and we definitely offer a different style of training.”
Mr Laurence said the club’s membership was an even split among men and women.
Greenway Plaza and Homemaker Greenway marketing manager Phillip Dimitriadis said UFC Gym was a huge drawcard.
“Interest in the UFC Gym from our customers has been incredibly high with lots of inquiries coming in from the local community,” he said.
“The UFC Gym opening will mark a new chapter in the history of our shopping centre.”
The grand opening celebration runs from 1-2pm this Saturday, with the UFC guest stars available to sign autographs.
There will also be lots of product sampling prizes, rides and other kids’ activities plus giveaways.
