TWELVE fire crews battled a factory fire in Smithfield this afternoon that has resulted in injuries and road closures.
Firefighters responded to reports of an “explosion” on Warren Rd at approximately 4.20pm to find several cylinders alight.
Two people have been injured – one of them seriously, police said.
Police have asked motorists to avoid the area as Cumberland Highway is closed northbound and local diversions are in place around the fire ground.
