Police have seized hundreds of cannabis plants worth almost $1 million in the latest in a string of raids on southwest Sydney homes this week.

Police have seized hundreds of cannabis plants worth almost $1 million in the latest in a string of raids on southwest Sydney homes this week.

At 7.20am today (July 5) Strike Force Zambesi officers seized 85 cannabis plants worth an estimated $296,000 from a Jensen St home in Fairfield West.

A second search warrant at an Earl St property in Canley Heights at 7.45am today uncovered 176 cannabis plants with an estimated value of $607,000.

A 21-year-old man was later charged with cultivating prohibited plants in commercial quantities, prohibited drug possession, using or wasting electricity without authority and organising a drug premises.

He was refused bail to face Fairfield Local Court tomorrow (July 6).

A 22-year-old woman was arrested at the Fairfield West home and charged with being found on drug premises and prohibited drug possession.

She will face Fairfield Local Court on July 30.

Strike Force Zambesi officers from the South West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squads in Wetherill Park and Bass Hill have seized more than 200 million cannabis plants and executed more than 500 search warrants since 2011.

Three raids earlier this week uncovered more than $1.4 million of cannabis at homes in West Hoxton, Carnes Hill and Georges Hall.

Police seized 680 plants and secured them for forensic analysis.
